Cappadocia, Rock Formation | Turkey Nevsehir

The Cappadocia region is largely underlain by sedimentary rocks formed in lakes and streams, and ignimbrite deposits erupted from ancient volcanoes approximately 9 to 3 million years ago (late Miocene to Pliocene epochs). The rocks of Cappadocia near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. The volcanic deposits are soft rocks that the people of the villages at the heart of the Cappadocia Region carved out to form houses, churches, monasteries.

Cappadocian region is the place where the nature and history come together with most beautiful scene in the world. While geographic events are forming Peribacalari (fairy chimneys), during the historical period, humans had carried the signs of thousand years old civilizations with carving houses and churches within these earth pillars and decorating them with frisks.
During the Roman Emperor, Augustus period, territories of Cappadocian Region as a wide region lying till to the Toros Mountains at south, Aksaray at west, Malatya at east and Eastern Black Sea shores at north within the 17 volume book named ‘Geographika’ of Strabon, one of the Antic Period writers. Today’s Cappadocian Region is the area covered by Nevsehir, Aksaray, Nigde, Kayseri, and Kirsehir cities. More limited area, rocky Cappadocian Region is composed of Üchisar, Göreme, Avanos, Ürgüp, Derinkuyu, Kaymakli, Ihlara and environment.
Traditional Cappadocian houses and dovecotes carved into stones are showing the uniqueness of the region. These houses are constructed on the feet of the mountain via rocks or cut stones. Rock, which is the only construction material of the region, as it is very soft after quarry due to the structure of the region, can be easily processed but after contact with air it hardens and turns into a very strong construction material. Due to being plentiful and easy to process of the used material, regional unique masonry is developed and turned into an architectural tradition. Göreme Açık Hava Müzesi ve Kaçırdığımız Günbatımı

Öğle yemeğini açık büfe sabit fiyat olarak anlaşılan bir yerde alel acele yiyip, kahvemizin yarısını montlarımızı giyerken içtikten sonra, tekrar düştük yollara, Kapadokya’nın güzelliklerini görmeye.
Öğleden sonraki ilk durağımız Göreme Açık Hava Müzesi oldu. Bu turun en iyi tarafı sabit bir program olmayışı. Programda sarkma mı oldu ufak değişiklikler ile yeni bir program yapılıveriyor. Rehberimiz Gökhan’ın zamanında otobüse gelme konusunda baştan koyduğu tavır herkesin gözünü korkuttuğundan olsa gerek geç kalmak söz konusu dahi değil. More >
Nevşehir Göreme Milli park

Volkanik tüften oluşmuş ilgi çekici manzara yapısı içerisinde Bizans Kilise mimarisi ve dinsel sanat tarihinden önemli bir devri sergilemektedir. Bölgenin özelliklerinden burada yaşayanlar savaşların etkilerinden,merkezi idarenin otoritesinden uzak kalmayı başarabilmişlerdir.
Ana ulaşım yollarına uzaklığı ve engebeli bir alan olması ,gizlenmek isteyen veya dini inzivaya çekilenler için uygun korunma yeri olmuştur. Manastır hayatı 3. yüzyıl sonları ile 4. yüzyıl başlarında başlamış ve hızla yayılmıştır. Manastırlar, kiliseler, şapeller,yemekhaneler ve keşiş hücreleri ,depo ve şarap yapım yerleri bulunan mekanlar oyulmuş,duvar resimleri ile süslenmiştir. More >

fairy chimneys in Goreme Göreme has, to some extent, become the focus of the Cappadocian tourist industry. It’s proximity to the Open Air Museum, Zelve and other bits and pieces of fairy chimney charm, coupled with it’s downright cheapness has been drawing people from all over the world for the last 20 years or so.
Basic accommodation and supplies are here in volume as a result of the rapid response to the areas tourist potential and Göreme is a favorite amongst budget travelers, many of whom stay a while, sometimes finding work in the tourist industry themselves. (Read more ) More >
